Sleigh Bells ring, are you
listening...
Actually, these are jingle bells, denoting a jingler
inside of a round cast bell, instead of a clapper in an open
type of bell, both of which have been used for sleigh bells.
Most of the antique sleight bells we get are on cracked or
rotten straps, so we re-set them for a new life on a high
quality, pliable leather strap. All are of brass or bronze bell
metal, and old. Some may show wear, but we think that makes them
all the more dear. Just being in their presence and thinking
about sleight bells jingling over the hills from a horse's neck
in their former life, makes our heart sing. These look great
hanging by a fireplace, or draped over an old horse collar. (Example)
The straps are 5 to 7 feet long, with a varying number of
jingle bells, and priced depends mostly upon the number of
bells.
Our camera flashbulb overdid the brilliance and shine, as the
actual color is more subtle.
